Going further with AI in extension

Build on your existing AI experience to use generative tools more strategically, efficiently, and confidently in extension and advisory work. In this half-day online workshop, we’ll focus on moving beyond basic use to more advanced, thoughtful application of AI—improving quality, judgement, and impact. You’ll explore how to refine prompts, handle more complex tasks, and integrate AI into your workflows while maintaining accuracy, ethics, and trust.

Is this course for you?

  • You’re already using AI tools such as ChatGPT or Copilot and want to get more value from them.
  • You’re comfortable with the basics but want to improve the quality, consistency, and reliability of AI outputs.
  • You want to make more deliberate decisions about when to use AI—and when not to—in extension practice.

Why enrol?

  • Strengthen your ability to use AI for more complex and nuanced extension tasks.
  • Learn techniques to improve output quality through better prompts, iteration, and checking.
  • Build confidence integrating AI into everyday workflows without over-reliance or risk.

What you'll achieve

Through this half-day, highly interactive workshop, you’ll explore topics like:

  • Refine and iterate prompts – move beyond simple prompts to get clearer, more accurate, and more useful outputs.
  • Use AI for complex extension tasks – apply AI to analysis, tailoring messages, planning activities, and sense-making.
  • Evaluate and improve AI outputs – check for accuracy, bias, tone, and relevance before use.
  • Integrate AI into workflows – decide where AI adds value across planning, delivery, and reporting tasks.
  • Strengthen judgement and ethics – make informed choices about appropriate, responsible use in extension contexts.

By the end of this course, you’ll be able to use generative AI more deliberately and effectively—saving time, improving quality, and supporting better extension outcomes while keeping human expertise front and centre.

Who you will learn from

FAQs

What is the Going further with AI in extension course about?
This half-day online workshop is designed for people who already use AI tools and want to deepen their skills. It focuses on improving prompt quality, handling more complex tasks, integrating AI into workflows, and strengthening judgement around responsible use.

Do I need to have completed Getting started with AI in extension first?
No, but it’s strongly recommended that you have some prior experience using generative AI tools. This course assumes you’re familiar with the basics and is not designed as an introductory session.

Is it only for people in Australia?
No, this course is open to anyone, no matter their location or nationality. While most participants are likely to be based in Australia, we welcome participants from New Zealand and other countries.

Can I register multiple people from my organisation at once?
Yes, simply list the names of all participants in the first field. In the final comments field, include the name and email address of the person making the booking, and the tax invoice will be sent to them. Then send a follow-up email with the names, email addresses and mobile numbers of each participant.

Are places limited?
Yes. Numbers are capped to keep the workshop interactive and practical.

How is the workshop delivered?
The session is delivered live via Zoom and includes interactive discussions and activities.

Do I need any special software or account?
No special software is required. You’ll receive a Zoom link by email before the workshop.

What if my organisation only allows me to use Copilot or another tool, not ChatGPT?
That’s perfectly fine. This workshop is technology agnostic—it focuses on how to use generative AI effectively in extension practice, regardless of the specific platform. While we often refer to ChatGPT for demonstration purposes, all the concepts and principles apply equally to other generative AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Gemini, or Claude. Throughout the course, we provide examples for both ChatGPT and Copilot, so you can easily adapt what you learn to the platform your organisation supports.

What is the cost?
The registration fee is A$350 ex GST.

How can I pay?
We prefer payment by bank transfer, as this avoids processing costs. However, for your convenience, you can also pay by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, or American Express) through our secure Stripe payment gateway.

Are there any extra fees?
When paying by credit card, Stripe charges a small processing fee that is automatically added to your total. For Australian cards, this is 1.7% + A$0.30 (inc GST). For international cards, this is 3.5% + A$0.30 (ex GST). These charges are passed on at cost so that we receive the full workshop or course amount. The total payable is displayed clearly before you confirm payment.

Why do you pass on Stripe fees?
As a small business, we prefer to keep our standard prices as low as possible and only recover processing costs from those choosing to pay by card. Paying by bank transfer avoids these fees entirely.

Is my payment secure?
All card payments are encrypted and processed securely by Stripe, a PCI-compliant global payment provider. We do not store or have access to your credit-card details.

Are refunds available?
Refunds are available if you cancel at least seven days before the course date. Cancellations received within the final seven days are not eligible for a refund. If you can no longer attend during that period, another person from your organisation is welcome to participate in your place at no additional cost.

What if I cannot attend on the scheduled date?
If the scheduled date does not suit, please register your interest using this form and we will let you know about future offerings of this course and related programs.
