As 2025 draws to a close, we wanted to take a moment to reflect and thank you for your support this year. Enablers of Change exists to make good practice easier for people who work in extension, and this year we’ve continued to share ideas we’ve found useful to help us all continue to improve as we go.
So 2025! We kicked off the year by looking at how the Technology Readiness Level framework can be used for extension, sparking some good conversations. We then explored the stages of group development, making the theory practical for those of us facilitating teams, farmer groups, or peer-to-peer learning communities. Later we shared insights from the AgriFutures project, a map and gap analysis, and talked about what that means for future support and professional development of Australian extension.
Over the year we released episodes on learner-directed learning, an update on good practices in extension, and the value of sparking curiosity to combat over-confidence. We want to thank you all, our listeners, readers, viewers and colleagues across Australia, New Zealand and further afield. Your willingness to engage and share your thinking and your questions are what makes this worthwhile!
Our YouTube analytics indicate that the most viewed content this year was What are the six adult learning principles, closely followed by What is agricultural extension. And of course, that short little video we did on how to stop Post it Notes curling and falling off continues to be popular!
Another exciting milestone this year was the launch of the Enablers of Change Academy, which we unveiled at the APEN 2025 Conference in Brisbane. The Academy is our new learning hub designed to strengthen the skills and confidence of those working in extension and related fields. It brings together our most popular workshops and new online courses, offering flexible, practical, and evidence-based learning options. Whether it’s mastering the fundamentals of extension, building trust and rapport with farmers, or exploring how to use AI in extension, the Academy is another way to learn and grow in our roles, so that we can keep making a difference.
Looking ahead, we’ve got more episodes planned including how we’re using AI, and delivering extension in complex systems. We’d love to hear what you want in 2026, so let us know what you’d find useful in the comments under the blog post. We’re keen to make sure what we do helps us all continue to learn, adapt and thrive!
Thanks again for your ongoing support and have a safe and happy Christmas and New Year!

Thanks John and Denise for a year of hints and good ideas for PD and Life.
All the best for this festive season and 2026
Cheers,
Mal
And thanks Mal for engaging with us so well this year and sharing your thoughts and experiences!
We hope you have a great summer break and a peaceful New Year!
